PROBLEM OVERVIEW

While interviewing sales and integrators, we learned that Exacq is one of the leading products in security survellience. The only thing holding it back was the current Exacq's mobile app.

1. The app looked outdated and plain.
Integrators told us that although our clients were eager to use the mobile app, the outdated UI pulled them out of the experience, and caused them to underestimate the app.

2. The current mobile app was slow and unpredictable.
The mobile app was slow to load video. Although this wasn't something UX could fix, we also learned that it lacked the proper UI to show errors, or failure to load videos, leaving users to guess what's wrong.

OUTCOME

We decided to design the app from top down.

  • We conducted on site usability testing for a beta version of our app and recorded and compiled feedback
  • Facilitated a Participatory design session to understand our customer's mindset and expectations when it comes to the product.
  • Design solutions for problem areas via multiple iterations and feedback.
